VOTE!!! Hold the City Accountable!!!

Election Day is here. This is our chance to hold city leadership accountable for years of shameful neglect while sitting on multimillion-dollar budget surpluses. Johns Creek has had excess funds year after year, yet the Macedonia Cemetery remains abandoned, its headstones crumbling, its grounds overgrown. It's a disgrace, and it has to stop.

On November 4, you're voting for mayor and three City Council seats (Posts 1, 3, and 5). Incumbent Mayor John Bradberry faces challenger Kelly Stewart. In the council races, Dilip Tunki (Post 1) is challenged by Anita Gupta, Bob Erramilli (Post 3) faces Shafiq Jadavji, and Larry DiBiase (Post 5) runs against Tyler Chenault and Cal Couch. We need leadership that truly cares about this cemetery and will honor past promises to protect it.

Research the candidates. Ask them where they stand on cemetery preservation. Vote for those who will actually fund and care for this sacred ground. This election is how we demand justice and dignity for our ancestors.

Volunteer Your Time and Skills

The cemetery needs hands-on help. Whether you can spend a few hours clearing brush, documenting headstones, organizing events, or offering professional skills like photography, landscaping, or historical research, your time makes a tangible difference. Volunteers have been essential to keeping the Macedonia Cemetery from falling further into disrepair, and we need more people willing to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the Descendants and Johns Creek Historical Society.

If you're interested in volunteering, please contact us through our website or reach out via the cemetery's Facebook page. There are opportunities for everyone, regardless of experience.

Donate to Support Restoration

Sadly, the city hasn't taken care of the cemetery, so the Descendants, Johns Creek Historical Society, local students, and other volunteers have had to step in and do the work. Your tax-deductible donations help us do the work the city should be doing. Link to the Descendant's nonprofit (DMCC): https://cash.app/$dmccofjc

Spread the Word: Every Share Matters

Here's the truth: sharing this story may be the single most powerful thing you can do right now. Every conversation you start, every post you share, every time you tell someone about the Macedonia Cemetery, you're building momentum that cannot be stopped. The city has ignored this sacred ground for too long, banking on the fact that people won't notice or won't care. Prove them wrong.

Talk to your neighbors over the fence. Share this website (https://macedoniacemeteryproject.com) and the cemetery's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61582658270369) on social media. Forward this page to your email list. Bring it up at community gatherings. Text your friends. The more people who know what's happening, the more pressure mounts on officials to act. Each share recruits another advocate, another donor, another voter demanding change.

When we raise our voices together, we become impossible to ignore. Together, we will ensure our ancestors receive the dignity they deserve.
